'LOVE IS THE ROOT OF ALL FREEDOM' IS A DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION WHICH FORMS PART OF A CONTINUING SERIES I HAVE BEEN CREATING WHICH IS FOCUSED ON REVERENCE FOR BLACK QUEER ELDERS (THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED ON, ARE ALIVE AMONG US NOW AND THOSE WE WILL HOPEFULLY GROW TO BECOME).
This series is an extension of my exploration of possibility modeling, in which I create visual and literary art that imagines what the lived realities of marginalized people would be if they were free. I have often been asked to create work that conveys what freedom entails to me and one of the most recurring images I've created to showcase this is shared food resources and free distribution. I've volunteered in a few community gardens and small farms over the years and I think it is always crucial to make nourishing, fresh and delicious food accessible to everyone.
