Makella Ama

Makella Ama is an anti-disciplinary maker with a practice that often takes shape through curation, visual anthropology and speculative writing. Their work is rooted within a background of community/youth work with children in care and young refugees.

Recently curated projects include Uzo Egonu at Museum of The Home (2025), London Short Film Festival (2025), Firelei Báez - Sueño de la Madrugada (A Midnight’s Dream) at South London Gallery (2024) and To Hold and To Be Held at Tate Britain (2024). 

Currently, Makella Ama works as an archivist with Nii Noi Nortey Archives and is curiously following threads of space/time travel through research, writing, film and sound programming.
