Eric Jackson of Black Yield Institute

Eric Jackson (he/him) is a distinguished educator, author, filmmaker, and organizer, renowned for his unwavering dedication to Black Land and Food Sovereignty. As the co-founder, visionary, and Servant-Director of Black Yield Institute (BYI), he leads transformative efforts to confront food apartheid and build a movement toward Black Land and Food Sovereignty through grassroots organizing, food supply chain development, and strategic movement support. His visionary leadership and unwavering dedication have earned him recognition as a pioneering figure in the movement for Black self-determination and food justice. He is rooted in this work through the love and support of a strong network of family and comrades. Eric’s forthcoming book, A Life of Praxis, and film, From Seed to Sovereignty, both demonstrate the power of storytelling. The projects amplify, respectively, the lessons learned from his life, as well as the impact of a decade of organizing with the Black Yield Institute.
