Alejandro Ibrahim

Alejandro Ibrahim is a first year student in the PhD program of Africana Studies at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Alejandro Ibrahim graduated from North Carolina Central University in 2023 with a Bachelors of Arts in History. Recently, he received a Masters of Arts in Public History at North Carolina State University. His research interests are black agrarianism, black environmental history, and agricultural sustainability in the Africana world. Currently he has curated a garden exhibit at the North Carolina Botanical Garden which documents crops grown by those of African descent. He also seeks to further his research on the New Farmers of America (NFA) in North Carolina and their efforts to provide food security and food sovereignty to their communities. He is also engaged in research on how traditional African agriculture can play a role in food policy for African American communities. Aside from his academic career and aspirations Alejandro Ibrahim also helps with his family farm called JimFina Farms located in Brown Summit North Carolina and specializes in growing produce from the African diaspora and value added products.
